8 firms bid for underground construction contract for Kanpur Metro

: The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has opened the technical bids for the construction of 4.65km long underground tunnel with three metro stations between Nayaganj Station and Transport Nagar Ramp under package KNPPC-06 of Kanpur Metro Rail Project. The bids were opened on October 14,2021. 

According to the UPMRC, the following firms and consortia have submitted their bids for execution of this contract package 
Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T)
Tata project Ltd (TPL)
Gulermak Agir Sanayi insaat ve Taahh. A.S
ITD Cementation India 
A Consortium of Afcons Infrastructure and Sam India Builtwell
A Consortium of Dineshchandra R Agarwal Infracon and Hindustan Construction Company
A Consortium of J.Kumar Infraprojects and NCC Ltd
A Consortium of JMC Projects India and CAI 

The scope of work under this project includes design and construction of TBM Tunnel, cut and cover tunnel, underground ramp from Kanpur Central to end of Nayaganj station to elevated ramp after Transport Nagar and three underground metro stations. The name of the station Kanpur Central, Jhakarkatti and Transport Nagar including architectural finishes, E and M, TVS, ECS etc on corridor 1 of Kanpur Metro Rail Project at kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.   

According to UPMRC, the contract package will be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB)  for this, EIB has approved the about Rs 5661 Crore loan to Goverment of India in July 2020. Tender notice for this contract package was issued in June 2021 with the estimated cost of Rs 1,250 crore.
