Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Five construction firms have submitted bids to construct Chennai Metro Line-04 Poonamallee Depot of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL ). There name reveled after opened technical bids for Package DPT-01 on July 17, 2021.
As per result announced after opening of the financial bids. The Joint venture between two firms ie the joint venture between Ukraine based Altis Holding Corporation and Varindera Construction Ltd. emerged as the lowest bidder for this contract. The ponnammalle depot is of Chennai metro is 26.09 which will connect Light House Poonamallee Bypass through 30 stations. It will be used to stabilize and maintain the line’s 26.3 km coach train sets for which bids were invited in December 2020. The cost of the depot is approximately Rs. 225 crores and it requires 17 hectares of land.
The scope of work includes construction of depot at Poonamallee including Structural Works, Architectural Finishes, Plumbing Works, Signages, Utility shifting & Boundary wall and all Associated works.

There are some more procedures to be completed and after that, the contract will be awarded. But,it will be done shortly. Since the section of the Poonamallee-Light House stretch between Poonamallee and Power House will be the first to open to the public in four-five years, it is imperative that the depot be finished by then.
Apart from this depot, the phase II project will have a bigger one at Madhavaram for which CMRL is yet to finalize a contractor.
