Agra Metro completes construction of 100 pillars in 9 months

: The civil construction work of the first corridor of the Agra Metro Project is being carried out with full speed. The team of Agra Metro Project and Sam India Builtwell has proven its dedication and worth by completing the construction of 100 pillars in just 9 months from the commencement of civil construction of the project. Piers or commonly known as ‘pillars’ are the main support structure for the U girders of the metro project.

Kumar Keshav (Managing Director, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation) said,
The timely erection of the piers indicates that the project is being executed with accuracy and in a time-bound manner and the entire project will be executed within the stated timeline, with utmost safety, accuracy and finesse.

The primary station of the corridor which is Taj East Gate has effectively begun coming into shape and it will be ready soon.


Completion of 100 pillars marks the completion of most of the civil construction work for the 3 km elevated sections of the priority stretch. It will run from Taj East faorte station and Fatehabad Road.

In just 9 months from the date of its inauguration, the Metro project team has completed 616 piles, 120 pile caps and 102 piers for the elevated section of the priority stretch of the 29.4 km long first corridor, which runs from Taj East Gate.
