UPMRC completes 8.5 km viaduct of Kanpur Metro project

Kanpur, India (Metro Rail News): Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) erected the 600th U-girder on Thursday night near Medical College (GSVM) under the Priority Section that is being constructed between IIT and Motijheel.

 Kumar Keshav (Managing Director of UPMRC) has congratulated the whole team and said,
Kanpur Metro is progressing towards its target of trial run in November, 2021 on the Priority Section. Civil works are about to be completed and in addition system works like Track laying & installation and set-up of technical rooms etc at Metro Staions and Polytechnic Depot are also being executed at a fast pace

The civil construction of this section is almost complete. The elevated viaduct is completed up to the distance of more than 8.5 Km out of 9km. The erection of only 24 U-girders is left in this section now, which is about to complete soon. Along with this, the connectivity through the viaduct has reached the Medical College gate starting from the dead end before IIT. The erection work of U-girders on the Priority Section started on 11th August, 2020. Casting of all U- girders has completed.

UPMRC has completed casting of all 668 U-girders recently. 624 U-Girders will be erected in the Priority Section and after that 44 more U-Girders will be erected for the elevated viaduct. This will connect the ramp of the underground section with the Motijheel end of the Priority Section. The casting of U-girders in Kanpur started on 20th January, 2020. Total estimated cost of the project is Rs 110.76 billion.
