New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Ashwini Vaishnaw (Union Railway Minister) has flagged off an indigenously designed and manufactured equipment on Thursday to speed up the construction of Viaducts for Mumbai - Ahmedabad high speed Rail Corridor. He addressed the gathering through Video conferencing from New Delhi.

This will expedite construction of high speed railway (HSR), as is the proven technology in metro and similar projects. Work has already begun on 325 km (in Gujarat) out of 508 km corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This project will also improve the skill set in various rail construction technologies. Japanese counterparts will provide training to National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited employees and also to contractors. More than 6,000 workers are already working at various construction sites for the project, thus creating employment opportunities for the local youth.
Miyamoto Shingo (Minister, Embassy of Japan in India), Suneet Sharma (Chairman and CEO, Railway Board) Satish Agnihotri (Managing Director, National High Speed Rail Corporation) Anupam Kumar and Subrahmanyan (CEO and MD of L&T Construction) was present during the launch.
The Mumbai - Ahmadabad high speed rail project is expected to create more than 90,000 jobs including 51,000 jobs for technicians, skilled and unskilled workers. Out of the total length of 508.17km,155.76km is in Maharashtra, 384.04km is in Gujarat and 4.3km is in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.A total of 20 such launch event is required for the construction of Viaduct 325km of the Viaduct superstructure between Vapi to Ahmedabad in the state of Gujrat.

The High Speed Rail Project from Mumbai to Ahmedabad is the first Bullet Train Project of India. Construction was expected to begin by April 2020,and the project was expected to be completed by December 2023. Due to delays acquiring land, the completion date has been pushed to October 2027.
