New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Days after a monkey was found loitering in the Delhi Metro, officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will hold talks with the forest department to check the simian menace and ensure passenger safety in the metro.
DMRC in a statement said that the talks with forest officials will focus on chalking out plans to prevent recurrence such incidents.
"The DMRC in consultation with the Forest Department plans to work out a standard operating procedure to deal with such unexpected situations arising out of their entry into Metro premises for passengers’ safety," the statement added.
A few days ago, a monkey was seen in a DMRC coach. The Delhi Metro officials had clarified that the monkey entered the metro coach from Akshardham station and remained on the train for nearly four minutes. Officials said the train was evacuated at the next station after getting information about the incident.
Earlier, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had also adopted such ways to force out monkeys from VVIP areas in the national capital.
"We have appealed to the general public to inform train operators or metro officials in case of any such incident for immediate remedial measures," DMRC's Anuj Dayal was quoted saying.
