Proven international experiences of this widely prevalent track technology for High-Speed Rail systems will ensure safety and passengers' comfort during RRTS operations. With the introduction and internalisation of this advanced track technology, NCRTC will mark many firsts in terms of technology that weren’t available earlier in India.
Construction of a pre-cast track slab factory is under established in Shatabdinagar, Meerut for manufacturing of pre-cast track slabs. These track slabs will be transported to the site and grouted on the viaduct slab. This will ensure very accurate fast track laying.
RRTS tracks will support high-performance and will require low maintenance, thus reducing the life-cycle cost.
The first lot of 880 Grade rails being manufactured by Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) in Raigarh, India under the Make in India initiative of the Government of India, has arrived in Duhai, Ghaziabad for laying tracks in the Maintenance Depot. The rest of the head hardened rail for RRTS tracks for both underground and elevated sections will be reaching in the coming months.
The arrival of rails, for the construction of tracks, is a very important milestone for the RRTS project as civil works are being completed in stretches of priority section and access is being sequentially given to system contractors, starting with Track contractor M/s L&T. It is also very reassuring to team NCRTC to see the project progressing as scheduled.
The 17 km priority section of the RRTS corridor between Sahibabad to Duhai, including five stations of Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot, is targeted to be completed by March 2023. At present, a total of 12 Launching Gantries are working day and night to construct the RRTS viaduct. Mobilisation of man and machinery at such a magnitude is a major feat requiring synchronization of a large number of activities being done by an equally large number of stakeholders. Team NCRTC, with the support of all agencies, is passionately working hard to deliver this transformational project to the nation well in time.
According to NCRTC, about 4 km of RRTS viaduct has been constructed where finishing works such as installation of bearings, parapets and road median are progressing.
The 82.15 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is first Regional Rail Transit System Project of India that will connect Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Meerut in Utter Pradesh through 16 Stations. The estimated cost of this project is USD 3947.7 million (approx. Rs 30,274 crores) and the 38.05 km first priority section (Sahibabad-Meerut South) would be commissioned by January, 2023.
