L&T begins construction work on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project



Vadodara, India (Metro Rail Today): The workers of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today started pile construction work for 88 km long viaduct between Vadodara and Ahmedabad (excluding HSR stations) of Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor at village Rayka near Vadodara under Contract Package C-6.

The scope of work under contract package C-6 includes, "Design and Construction of Civil and Building Works including Testing and Commissioning on Design-Build Lump Sum Price Basis for Double Line High Speed Railway involving Viaduct & Bridges, Crossing Bridges, Maintenance Depot and Station (Anand/Nadiad), between Vadodara (MAHSR Km. 401.898) and Ahmedabad (MAHSR Km. 489.467), excluding Works for 01 No. PSC Bridge and 04 No. Steel Truss Bridges, in the State of Gujarat for the Project for Construction of 508.17 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor."

On 16th December 2020, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSPRCL) had signed an agreement with Larsen & Toubro Limited in respect to awarding the contract package C-6 worth Rs 7,289.00 crore for building the 87.569 km viaducts for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.

The 508.17 km Bullet Train Corridor will connect Ahmedabad in Gujarat to Mumbai in Maharashtra through 12 HSR stations. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.1 lakh crore. This project is being funded by Japan Government through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
