Bagalore Metro acquires land for Silk Board-KR Puram Metro Corridor


Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) informed that it has acquired land for Silk Board-KR Puram (Outer Ring Road Metro) line. The land acquisition process has been long pending for this line. However, the Centre has not yet approved this corridor. BMRCL expects to get the Centre's nod by month-end.

BMRCL has finished the land acquisition process even before awarding the work order to companies. As per the plan, the ORR metro corridor (
Silk Board-KR Puram) will run on the median along the Outer Ring Road. This line was designed for the Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS).

According to BMRCL, the corporation needs to acquire 12 properties b
etween Dairy Circle and Nagawara, which has been given a 2024-25 deadline.

Bangalore Metro floated tender for the 36 km KR Puram-KIA corridor in three packages, but the bids not yet opened.

Sources said that the tender for KR Puram-KIA corridor will be finalised after the issuance of the letter of acceptance (LoA) to the final winner of the ORR Metro line. Afcons Infrastructure Limited and Shankaranarayana Constructions Pvt Ltd were the lowest bidder Since October 2020, when Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa gave the green signal for the project.

The previous deadline for the Outer Ring Road-airport line was 2024, which will be ready by mid-2025.

According to the plan, BMRCL would have to 
acquire 3,050 properties for Bangalore Metro's Phase 2 and Outer Ring Road-KIA Metro Line.
