Nitin Gadkari requests CM to submit plan for Metro Rail of Goa

: Nitin Gadkari( Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways) launched the Rs184 crore Loutolim-Verna Industrial Estate link on October 1, 2021. Nitin Gadkari took up a proposition for Metro Rails in Goa during a spectacular celebration held in Verna Industrial Area ahead of the 2022 assembly elections and requested Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to present a plan for the transit system. 

The Minister also stated that the approach road and single lane of the Zuari Bridge would be completed by December this year and that attempts would be made to inaugurate it before the code of conduct is adopted. Along with the airport, he announced a state-of-the-art connection road for Mopa, completed by 2023. He stated that the centre had given its approval. Since 2014, Goa has spent Rs12 000 crore on highway projects.

Dr. Pramod Sawant had previously stated that it is a delight to watch an excellent enterprise being inaugurated. This link road will connect North and South Goa, and credit should go to the engineering team. He also mentioned the second Zuari Bridge, which is the country’s third-longest cable bridge. In addition, another observatory tower, which will be built near the Zuari Bridge, will serve as a tourist attraction.
